Fast growing yellow/green variety, long shoots but lower number of shoots than other varieties. Hardy vigorous variety, producing long straight stems with growth up to 2m a year, traditionally used to make baskets for fishing and agriculture. Other uses include living structures, furniture, drawing charcoal, wind-breaks, soil stabilisation, waste filtration, and fuel. The stems or Rods are very tough and flexible, ideal for construction of living willow structures. Happy in full sun or part shade and thrives on regular watering. It will tolerate a wide variety of soil types.

50 cuttings bought, 50+ delivered, planted on day or day after delivery. Planting along river bank, in April, in 20cm square of dug bare earth, in part-buried 30 cm tree protectors. Watered every other day. All cuttings had sprouted leaves by 3 weeks after planting. Cuttings have yet to root (a few cuttings were dug up, presumably by wildlife, but survived after replanting). Can't comment on vigour, pest & disease resistance, hardiness.

This is the second order we have purchased from Yorkshire Willow. The first consisted of 100 cuttings 12 months ago all of which grew apart from the 40 that succumbed to mole damage. The second order, which was despatched earlier at our request will be planted to replace the "destroyed by moles"variety!
