WILLOW RODS

You can just push willow rods into ground if soft enough, ideally 20cm deep but a minimum of 15cm. Otherwise use poker type implement or similar to make hole in ground first. Pay particular attention to the water requirements of the newly planted willow rods, they may require watering during the first spring and summer to establish if weather is very dry. Ideally keep weeds and grasses down to avoid competition for moisture - planting through a membrane or mulching will help a lot and greatly increase growth rate. Typically no support is required but if stand alone they may initially require a stake to support them in the first season or two if a very exposed site and soil loose. We can offer all sizes in fast growing biomass hybrids also (Add comment at checkout if want hybrid version).

The mainstream UK delivery companies will no longer deliver packages over 2.5m long, any orders containing these larger items (i.e. Willow rods over 2.5m) we will deliver the whole order ourselves for flat rate £35. This covers the following areas only... Yorkshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire. Lead times however may be up to two weeks, please call us before placing order if urgent.  Outside of these areas, please email order details and delivery post code to sales@yorkshirewillow.co.uk for quote and delivery lead time. We can travel as far as south as London & Bristol, and north as Edinburgh & Glasgow but on monthly basis only and delivery cost will typically be £50-£75.

*Select Length required below to filter and only see only those offered at that length, the 2.0m Category covers the widest number of varieties. For head height head or taller living willow structures you need minimum 2.5m Rods (these are all Salix Viminalis as they provide necessary growth length without side shoots)*
